Although the two plays couldn’t be more dissimilar, we’ve got plenty of friends from our Wooden O production of The Two Gentlemen of Verona joining us for Titus Andronicus. And it’s not surprising since David Quicksall is the director behind both shows. And if you were lucky enough to see David’s staging of Coriolanus for us in 2012, you know that there will be blood involved. In fact, we’ll have a blood expert on hand for Titus Andronicus.
Returning to our stage after 8 years is Andrew McGinn who will play Titus Andronicus, the warrior General driven to extreme measures of revenge. Andrew last appeared with us for Julius Caesar in 2008. Trevor Marston (Macbeth tour), Adam Canne, Taylor Babcock, and Angelica Duncan (The Two Gentlemen of Verona) will play Titus’s children.
Rachel Glass (The Two Gentlemen of Verona) will play Tamora Queen of the Goths and her sons will be played by Ian Bond, Christopher Morson (Twelfth Night), and Huntington Filson. Tamora’s lover Aaron will be played by Sylvester Kamara (Measure for Measure).
George Mount (Twelfth Night) and Jason Marr (Mother Courage and Her Children) will play Saturninus and Bassianus, sons of the Emperor of Rome.
Jim Gall (Mother Courage and Her Children) will play Marcus Andronicus and Matthew Gilbert will play his son. Karen Jo Fairbrook (Measure for Measure) will play the Nurse, and Alex Silva (Waiting for Godot) will play young Lucius.
The creative team includes Carol Wolfe Clay (set design), Jocelyne Fowler (costume design), Andrew D. Smith (lighting design), Nathan Wade (sound design), and Julia Griffin (blood expert).
Titus Andronicus runs January 12 through February 7, 2016 in the Center Theatre at Seattle Center.
