Creative Flame. Young Will Shakespeare is in dire need of inspiration. His next play is on deadline and the only thing he’s come up with is the title: Romeo and Ethel, the Pirate’s Daughter. Then he meets Viola, a smart and beautiful woman who desperately wants to perform on the stage, even though it’s forbidden. Will is smitten and gets inspired to write the greatest love story the world has known.
Film to Stage. Adapted from the Academy Award-winning film, Shakespeare in Love is a warm and witty romance filled with music and farcical characters. The clever interweaving of references to Shakespeare’s other plays make it a joy for fans of the Bard.
Man and Muse. Artistic Director George Mount brings his 20 years of passionate experience with Shakespeare and comedy to the staging of this special event. Chicago Tribune says it is “Marvelously fluid, riotously funny, and often intensely, even startlingly poignant…it could just make you fall, all over again, in love with Shakespeare.”
