A kiss, a dance, betrayal, wooing, lost love, revenge, courage, death, life found again – Shakespeare has it all. His stories reverberate and resonate in all of us. They touch us at our core and challenge us to see the world anew.
Each year Seattle Shakespeare brings these plays to life with vigorous, affecting productions. Whether it’s in one of our “home” theatres at Seattle Center, in a park on a warm summer day, or in a school gymnasium hundreds of miles away, every performance makes an impact.
Here’s just one example. After our educational touring production visited the Methow Valley, we received this feedback from the District Superintendent:
“In education, we love those moments when learning comes full circle and students’ eyes light up with recognition. Such an ‘aha’ moment happened last spring when Seattle Shakespeare performed at our high school. Students sat riveted in the school commons as the talented troupe brought the language of Shakespeare to life. After the performance, I heard students remark that they understood parts of the play that had been unclear before. Living in a remote area, our students lack easy access to performing arts opportunities available to their city counterparts. Partnerships such as the one with Seattle Shakespeare Company have a huge impact on our kids. They help us imagine worlds beyond our valley.”
Before 2012 draws to a close, I invite you to join Seattle Shakespeare Company in our endeavor to touch the lives of more than 55,000 students and patrons this season. We can’t do it alone – join us today and help us make a big impact.
Your gift holds the power to inspire, engage, uplift, and so much more.
Many thanks,
