Way to go Shakespeare Superheroes! You saved the day!
After just eight days, our power2give.org project has been fully funded, raising $3,000 to help us build new sets and costumes for the touring outreach program. Thank you to all of the superheroes out there who contributed to make this project possible!
Each spring, Seattle Shakespeare Company takes two, small-cast productions of Shakespeare’s plays on the road, visiting schools across Washington State to bring classical theatre to life for more than 14,000 students. Many of the students we reach have little or no access to the performing arts, and this is their first opportunity to see a professional play.
Thanks to the funds raised via our power2give campaign, we can replace our old, clunky set pieces with roll-up banners and collapsible scaffolding that will last for years to come (and leave foot room in the van for our actors). We will also outfit our cast with costumes for our new touring production of Othello.
It’s not too late to be a Shakespeare Superhero! Our power2give campaign has ended, but our education outreach programs are working hard to reach more schools and students in need. If you’d like to help us cover everything from scholarships for schools to wages for teaching artists, click the button below and make a donation in support of our education programs.
Thank you again for helping us deliver high-quality performances that make a big impact – productions that inspire students and support their classroom study of Shakespeare.
