We designate selected performances throughout the season as play-what-you-will nights. Tickets are sold on the day of the show starting at 6:30 p.m. on a first come, first served basis. Check the ticket calendar of the production you plan to see or email the box office for the next pay-what-you-will performance.
Groundling members can purchase available day-of-show tickets* for only $10 when they show their Groundling membership button. Groundlings tickets become available for sale at 6:30 p.m. (1:00 p.m. for matinees), are limited to two tickets per member per show, and are cash only sales. Email or stop by the box office to become a Groundling member.
What’s a Groundling?
At Shakespeare’s theatre, Groundlings were the audience members who paid a penny to stand in the open air yard to see the show. At Seattle Shakespeare Company, Groundlings pay a bit more than a penny to see the show, but they love theatre just as much. We won’t make you stand, but Groundlings have to take whatever seat is available when they come to see the show.
*Available for any performance except Saturday nights and Opening Night.
Purchasing season subscription tickets already saves you money off the cost of regular-priced single tickets, but if you come to preview performance or a Saturday matinee you can save even more. These two subscription packages with reserved seating are a great option for those on a tight budget.
