Short Shakes at Seattle Shakespeare Company is more than just putting on a play, it is an experience that fosters compassion, creates better listeners, promotes critical thinking, and develops courage. And it’s a whole lot of fun with new friends. Who knew a play could do all that?
You will audition, rehearse, and perform your own classic play. Seattle theatre professionals lead a seven-week process that culminates in three performances. All the while, you’ll make friends, learn about Shakespeare’s language, discover basic acting concepts and techniques, hone your comedy skills, and step into roles that may stretch you, but in a good way.
Winter Short Shakes:
Love’s Labour’s Lost
February 17-April 2, 2013
Directed by Zandi Carlson, and performed in the Center Theatre on the main stage set, this will be a crazy fun experience not to be missed!
This spring, get caught up in love! In this exuberant romantic comedy youthful idealism gets derailed by love. The King of Navarre and his buddies have plans to immerse themselves in their studies swearing off less civilized pursuits — namely girls. After the Princess of France arrives with her ladies on a diplomatic mission, the young men’s hearts melt along with their brainy resolve. Playful pranks, witty wordplay and moony wooing give way to more serious matters that reveal the cost of real love
