Make It a Sensational Summer of Shakespeare

Wooden O 2016 Announcment

The best time to start dreaming of summer is when it’s freezing outside. Seattle Shakespeare Company’s free Wooden O productions for summer 2016 will be Hamlet and Love’s Labour’s Lost. Both shows will start performances on July 7 and will perform in park venues throughout the region through August 7.  The full schedule of venues, dates, and performance times will be announced at a later date.

“Green grass.  A picnic dinner. A night out in the open air with friends.  Who doesn’t love daydreaming about such things in the midst of winter?” said Artistic Director George Mount. “As we make plans for our area’s tradition of Shakespeare in the parks, let’s linger a bit in a reverie of summer to carry us through the wet and cold times knowing that there are better days ahead filled with sun, friends…and Shakespeare!”

Mount will direct Hamlet. He directed last summer’s production of Henry IV part 1 and is currently appearing in Titus Andronicus. Mary Machala, who directed the Wooden O 2012 production of The Winter’s Talewill helm Love’s Labour’s Lost.
