Production Team Biographies

 

Stephanie Shine (Director/Artistic Director)

This marks Stephanie's ninth season as Artistic Director for Seattle Shakespeare Company. She is a graduate of the University of Washington's Professional Actor Training Program under Bob Hobbs and has worked at many of the theatres in Seattle as well as several regional theatres including Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Portland Center Stage, The Alley in Houston, New Jersey Shakespeare, Idaho Repertory Theatre, New Mexico Repertory Theatre, and Arizona Theatre Company. Stephanie has directed for Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Baja Shakespeare Company, Cornish College of the Arts, Book-It Repertory Theatre, and Bainbridge Performing Arts Center. This summer she directed her first feature film, Marilyn-Forever Blonde. She is the happy mom of Conor and Cally Shine and recently joined the faculty of the Seattle Film Institute.


Doris Black (Costume Designer)

SSC: Love’s Labour’s Lost, Two Gentlemen of Verona

Doris is pleased to return to Seattle Shakespeare Company. Some of her other design work includes: Black Nativity for Intiman, Angels in America and Kiss Me Kate for the University of Puget Sound, “A” My Name is Alice and Forbidden Xmas for Tacoma Actor’s Guild, The Wizard of Oz and Children of Eden for Civic Light Opera, Noises Off and Fiddler on the Roof for Village Theatre and designs for the Seattle Men’s Chorus/Women’s Chorus. Her film work includes the Costume Design for Police Beat, Cthulhu and Dark Horse. She works for periodcorsets.com, a company that produces period undergarments such as corsets and bustles. She received her M.F.A. in Costume Design from the University of Washington.


Tim Wratten (Lighting Designer)

Tim loves to play with light and is delighted to return to Seattle Shakespeare Company to light this show. Having worked in British rep theatres (Bristol Old Vic, Manchester Library, Coventry Belgrade) for many years, in 1996, Tim and family decided to come and play in Seattle (the weather is the same). Since then he has completed over 40 shows, including designs for The Empty Space Theatre, New City Theatre, Seattle University, and the Alliance Theatre Atlanta.


Jason Phillips (Scenic Designer)

SSC: Debut

Jason Phillips is a scenic designer/scenic artist, fine artist and sculptor. After some years working in New York (including credits at the major scenic studios, New York City Opera, American Ballet Theatre and the Metropolitan Opera), Jason came to Seattle as resident designer for Seattle Repertory Theatre where he designed and painted 27 productions; he spent an additional three seasons at the Rep serving as Master Scenic Artist; he has also been the head of the paint department at Seattle Opera and Intiman Theatre. In addition to his theatrical work he has designed numerous commercial venues and showrooms, including the new interactive Santa’s Village at Bellevue Square. In his spare time Jason produces watercolor, acrylic and oil paintings in his home studio.


Marleigh Driscoll (Properties Designer)

SSC: The Winter’s Tale, Much Ado About Nothing, Cyrano de Bergerac, Richard III, Romeo and Juliet, The Taming of the Shrew, Othello, Love’s Labour’s Lost, Kate and Isabel, Macbeth, The Two Gentlemen of Verona

Marleigh Driscoll is delighted to be working with Seattle Shakespeare for the third full season. She has been a stage manager and assistant director at Book-It Repertory Theatre for I Am of Ireland, Owen Meany’s Christmas Pageant, and In a Shallow Grave, as well as the Flying Karamazov’s Fun House at ACT Theatre. She has designed props for Wooden O Theatre for their last seven seasons, and served as Production Manager for the last two seasons, including their most recent productions of Hamlet and As You Like It. Marleigh also has a Master’s Degree in Architecture and spent seven years as Production Manager for the Drama Department at North Seattle Community College.


Robert “Max” Langley (Sound Designer)

SSC: Much Ado About Nothing, Cyrano de Bergerac, Richard III

Robert is pleased to be designing for Seattle Shakespeare Company. He has designed sound for There’s a Boy in the Girls’ Bathroom, Invisible Friends, Bunnicula, Kenny’s Window, and Boxcar Children for Seattle Children’s Theatre. He has also designed sound for Boomer Productions’ presentation of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Seattle Repertory Theatre’s production of A Doll’s House and the M.O.B. tour production of Homecoming, and The Group Theatre’s premiere production of A…My Name Is Still Alice in 1993.


Kimberly White (Vocal/Text Director)

SSC: The Winter’s Tale, Much Ado About Nothing, Cyrano de Bergerac, Richard III, Romeo and Juliet, The Taming of the Shrew, Othello, Love’s Labour’s Lost, As You Like It, King Lear

Kimberly has worked with Shakespeare’s text over the past 16 years as coach, teacher, director, and producer. She has taught and coached for the Professional Actor Training Program at the University of Washington, Freehold Conservatory Theatre, University of British Columbia, Otterbein College, and the Korean University of the Arts. Kimberly spent the past five summer seasons in Idaho where she directed and coached for Sun Valley Shakespeare Festival, a company she co-founded in 2000 and served as its Artistic Director for several years. She was Associate Director on Richard III for Harvard/Radcliffe University at the Loeb Theatre. She has been a faculty member with Shakespeare and Company (Lenox, Mass.) for eleven years and worked as “Lamentation Coach” for their ground-breaking production of Richard III. Kimberly has also worked with Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival and Seattle Children’s Theatre, and she served as co-director of the local innovative youth program, Young Shakespeare Workshop. Kimberly is a designated Linklater voice teacher. She is the proud mother of Hannah.


Rod Pilloud (Stage Manager)

Rod has been a professional actor, director and stage manager for theatres around the nation over the past 30 years. He has worked with such companies as Seattle Repertory Theatre, Los Angeles Shakespeare Festival, Milwaukee Repertory Theater, The Empty Space Theatre, Portland Repertory Theatre and A Contemporary Theatre.
